The most recent salmonella outbreak has now sickened more than 500 people and possibly is responsible for eight deaths. The facility who produced the tainted peanut butter products is located in Blakely, Georgia and owned by the Peanut Corp. of America.

The now closed plant has had health violations going back to 2006 which include dirty surfaces, grease residue problems as well as gaps in warehouse doors that would allow pests to enter the area.
