Written September 15th, 2006 by Tobias in General, Software

Mike Yamamoto talks about the web 2.0 fitness site revolution:

Don’t laugh, but physical fitness could be a powerful niche in the Web 2.0 world.

Clearly, tech companies have long seen the promise of the consumer health market, as Sony proved again recently with its introduction of a fitness-friendly Walkman. And serial dieters have found ways on their own to combine software with their regimens, such as personal spreadsheets.

Now, Web 2.0-oriented sites such as Gimme20, Traineo and PEERtrainer are trying to capitalize on the fitness trend. Sites that are even more finely defined, such as SugarStats.com, target specific health issues (in this case diabetes).

Eat 4 Today reviews The Performance Diet

Written September 12th, 2006 by Tobias in Diet Plans, Food, Software

Katiebird over at Eat 4 Today reviews the Performance Diet system and software:

I clicked on the desktop icon that normally (I would have said always before this) starts a software program, and was taken to a Welcome Message with two buttons. The first says, How to Start Your Diet Program, the other says, I want to take a tour. And I’m pretty sure they take you to the same place ! (I stumble into an alternate universe)

Written July 24th, 2006 by Tobias in Equipment, Software

200607182217The Incredible Shrinking Ladies take a look at the numbers and tools when taking look at weightloss and calories:

Let’s face it, to loose weight we have to know how many calories our bodies need and then eat less. To loose 1 lb. a week, eat 500 calories less a day that you use.

Weighting averages helps determine true weight loss/gain

Written July 16th, 2006 by Tobias in Software

If you weigh yourself every morning you’ll notice that your readings are all over the bloody place. It can be frustrating. Which is why if you track it, using a spreadsheet, you should weight your averages to see how you’re really doing.

More info on how to do that and download some tools to help you do it are available at Eat4Today.
