Web work has been poplar these days. For us writers/bloggers, we practically spend most of our work hours sitting in front of a computer monitor. Needless to say, there’s little room for physical activity save since it’s mostly the hands and fingers that do most of the physical work.

For those of us who work from home, physical activity is even lessened since there’s no fussing about for the daily commute. That basically means that we’re more susceptible to health risks brought about a sedentary lifestyle such as obesity and cardiovascular problems.

Recent research has revealed that the problems brought about by the lifestyle can be just as dangerous as those caused by smoking. And it’s easy to contract them.

If you are overweight, lack energy, and have difficulty breathing, suffer from chest pains and headaches then you better check with your health professional. Mind you that cardiovascular problems are oftentimes asymptomatic and symptoms only become noticeable when the problem’s already worse.

Doctors often just prescribe lifestyle change if the problems are just starting.

Yes, that’s right, extra virgin olive oil. It’s affordable, it’s available everywhere and it will certainly calm your dry skin and even take off your makeup with ease.

When it’s time for bed, simply take a swab with a dash of olive oil and coat whatever areas are more dry. Be sure to always test your skin for allergies on new products, it’s best to test your jawline to make sure the olive oil will not break you out or cause a rash.

If applying just a night isn’t doing the trick, apply the same method in the morning and you will be on your way to a more moisturized you.

First off, if you have had a case of diarrhea that has lasted more than a day, it’s a 1 in 3 chance that you’re suffering from food poisoning.

Other symptoms to look out for are a temperature of 101.5 degrees or more, blood in your stools, prolonged vomiting, dizziness as well as signs of dehydration like decreased urination.

Close to a quarter of Americans suffer from food poisoning each year, while only a fraction of those actually have outbreaks such as what we have seen in this year’s peanut butter salmonella scare.

If you think you might have food poisoning, seek medical attention.

If you find yourself without health insurance, here are some good tips to take care of yourself and your family’s health.

If your spouse is on a separate health insurance plan, act quickly in order to get on the plan with them.

Ask about your COBRA rights, with limited exceptions you can continue to pay for your coverage, though in full, for 18 months.

Many non-group plans can actually be affordable, so take some time to research your options.

Look into Medicaid and SCHIP. Also, many community clinics are now available to cater to your health needs at a lower cost.

When you do have to reach into your own pocket to pay for medical expenses, try negotiating your bill with doctors and hospital staff. You will be surprised how much you can save this way.

The first thing you need to do is stay calm and make your way to the closest first aid kit. Next, be sure to hold a clean cloth against the wound, applying pressure, while at the same time being sure you are holding the injured area above your heart.

If your cloth or bandage becomes soaked, leave the first one there and apply a fresh one just on top. Nest, gently rinse the cut with water, no soap or antiseptics.

If the wound continues to bleed after five minutes, it might be time to seek professional medical attention.
