Nike iPod

Mark over at A Passion for Running asks if he’s the only oneapathetic about the Nike iPod? I’m a huge Apple fan myself, typing this on a svelte 12′ Powerbook, and the Nike iPod seems like a nice addition to the exercise fitness gadgets lineup, but I also am not all that enthralled by it [...]

Another Treadputer

Posted by Tobias | on May 5, 2006

in category: Equipment

Lifehacker is featuring yet another treadputer up on their website.
I admit, as I am getting set up to move to freelance, I wonder how exactly I might set up something similar for myself so that I can work on losing weight while working.

BioTrainer

About.com’s exercise section has this cool review of the BioTraner, an activity monitor. This device is pretty much like the accelerometer I blogged about earlier, but much sleeker and easier to clip to your belt.
I’d love to test one of these out myself!

Cycling for Cardio

it lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol, burns [...]

Here’s another person who has fitted computers onto their treadmill to make a walking office. In the blog the owner of the Treadputer notes that he also uses the office while running:
We’ve had the Treadputer operational for about 45 days and I love it. I had high expectations for walking, but low expectations for [...]

Not too long ago I got a gift of a heart rate monitoring watch. This was useful, as I had wanted to track how hard I was pushing myself, and make sure I wasn’t pushing myself too far. It required strapping a device around my chest, however, that was uncomfortable and got even more so [...]

Healthy Office

Rubicante, an LJ user, has an entry up with a picture of an office that is a desk bolted on over a treadmill. The user of this ‘desk’ walks at a slow but steady pace throughout the day. This way the desk jockey is constantly burning calories. Neat concept.
Of course this works mainly for people [...]

Website For Women Lifters

in category: Diet Plans, Equipment, General, Workouts

Stumptuous.com is a weightlifting site aimed directly at women pumping iron.
If you’re a woman who’s always secretly eyed those dumbbells but has always had some dummkopf tell you you would “hurt yourself”, “get too big”, or Gawd knows what other idiocies, this is a good place for you to start finding out the truth and [...]

Calorie Tracker

Posted by Tobias | on March 29, 2006

For those interested in tracking every single calorie, here is Caltrac. This amped up device looks like a pedometer, but tracks your activity on lots of other levels as well. It’s actually an accelerometer, and can help you distinguish between running calories burned and walking calories burned. It also claims to track calories burned while [...]
