Couch PotatoWe’re bringing Healthacker back and for this stint, we’ll be focusing on getting back into shape.

Web work has been poplar these days. For us writers/bloggers, we practically spend most of our work hours sitting in front of a computer monitor. Needless to say, there’s little room for physical activity save since it’s mostly the hands and fingers that do most of the physical work.

For those of us who work from home, physical activity is even lessened since there’s no fussing about for the daily commute. That basically means that we’re more susceptible to health risks brought about a sedentary lifestyle such as obesity and cardiovascular problems.

Recent research has revealed that the problems brought about by the lifestyle can be just as dangerous as those caused by smoking. And it’s easy to contract them.

If you are overweight, lack energy, and have difficulty breathing, suffer from chest pains and headaches then you better check with your health professional. Mind you that cardiovascular problems are oftentimes asymptomatic and symptoms only become noticeable when the problem’s already worse.

Doctors often just prescribe lifestyle change if the problems are just starting.
