Are you in the habit of putting things off until tomorrow? If so, you are a procrastinator. Don’t feel bad - you have a lot of company.

For many of us it’s easier to put things off until another time and we only grudgingly do them when we finally have to. It’s easy to wait and do some things until it is a necessity to have to, but this only makes things worse.

It will serve you much better to go ahead and do the things you don’t want to do, so you can get them out of your way and stop thinking about them. Not only will you get more accomplished but you’ll feel better as well.

Listed below are a few tips to help you reduce procrastination and start tackling those pesky tasks sooner rather than later:

  • Make a list, write it down or type it up ahead of time per day, week, etc.
  • Make judgment calls on what should get done first, second, etc.
  • Decide what the most important tasks to get done are and when you will do them.
  • Estimate the amount of time it will take to get each task done. Do not overestimate the amount of time, but try to be realistic on exactly how much time the task will take.
  • Organize your life. The more organized your life is personally and professionally then the smoother it will go.
  • Take it step by step. Don’t get overwhelmed just take it bit by bit and slowly things will get accomplished.
  • Do things early in the day before you tire out.
  • Learn to cope with anxiety, depression and stress. Exercise daily to help with these and educate yourself on meditation and practice it.
