I find it extremely frustrating that restaurants don't offer half size portions more often. But we're a more-is-better consumer society, reflected now by our waists.

At their favorite restaurant, my folks (who eat out a couple of times a week) have started dividing one meal in half to take home. Then they divide the rest between the two of them for dinner that night.

And mister katiebird read that the FDA is stumped because the restaurants don't feel that they can cut back on portion size without lowering the price of the meals. And they are reluctant to do that.

Maybe the restaurants should charge more for healthy-portion selections that are the same meals as the regular menu but smaller portions. (I'm kidding)
