Dr. Mirkin points out to a study that asks Does television cause obesity?:

A study from Harvard School of Public Health shows that the longer women watch television, the more likely they are to become obese and develop diabetes (Journal of the American Medical Association, April 9, 2003)

The summary of the findings shouldn’t be all that surprising. We have, as a society, replaced time spent with hanging out together and playing with time spent vegging out in front of the TV. Putting a treadmill by the TV is a great idea, maybe a recumbent bike that’s silent would work well too, both ideas I’ve entertained in my mind as well.

Do you have an exercise machine set up in their living room to help combine TV watching and staying healthy?
